Personal Lubricants.

These lubricants come in many different fashions such as water- based, oil based, organic , silicone based, specialty lubricants such as warming lubricants and then anal specific.

Water based lubricants

Water-based personal lubricants are water soluble and are the most widely available personal lubricant on the market. Water-based personal lubricants absorb into the skin and evaporate they eventually will dry out leaving the residue derived from the other ingredients in the formulation. The only area where water based lubricants fall down is water-based lubricants are incompatible with many sex acts that occur in water (such as in a bathtub, pool, or hot tub) as they can be dissolved or dispersed in water.

Oil Based

Oil based lubricants are for all but are best for those who are in a relationship as it is best used without the use of a condom. Artificial petroleum based lubricants can increase the likelihood of breakage or latex condoms. This is really not what you need when your mind is on the job.

Silicone- Based

As silicone cannot be absorbed into the skin you will find that they remain in use for longer. Before using them with a latex condom check to see if they are compatible. The same goes for silicone sex toys although this should not be as much of an issue.

Specialty lubricants

These can be warming lubricants. These will create a warming sensation when they are applied.

Anal Specific

Many lubricants are safe for anal sex however there are also lubricants that have been made just for that one job. As the anal lubricants are needed to be applied in a higher amount you tend to find that the anal lubricant is a thicker consistency. As anal sex can be painful, in some lubricants contain benzocaine which is an anethetic.
